What’s in our tie dye kits?

Our tie dye kits are a small package with a big story. Let’s get into it.

The dyes

We use professional grade Procion MX dyes so your colours are as vibrant as your ideas.

These dyes are vegan, non-toxic and septic tank safe. They can be used with low immersion methods to reduce water consumption and are regarded as the more environmentally friendly dye option.

The Soda Ash

This fixes your dyes to the fabric, so it doesn’t wash out or fade over time. Soda ash is septic tank safe.

The Rubber Bands

100% rubber bands from Fair Trade sources, meaning at the end of life they are 100% biodegradable - they should last a long time though so please reuse.

The rubber trees harvested for these bands come from FSC certified plantations in Sri Lanka.

Did you know - rubber trees are excellent air purifiers? They filter out carbon, formaldehyde and even reduce mould spores in the air!

The Gloves

Many eco gloves options we explored and tested couldn’t be reused and could only be composted in industrial sites.

Our gloves are biodegradable nitrate. Although they are biodegradable they are super touch and we recommend you reuse them until they wear out.

At end of life they will biodegrade 90% within a year in landfill, and 100% within 5 years.

The packaging

We use kraft paper pouches for our kits and contents. Pouches have been shown to be more environmentally friendly than other comparable packaging options.

Our pouches are designed to be reused. With a resealable grip on each one your dyes can be safely stored for whenever inspiration finds you.

To recycle our pouches at the end of their life please place the grip strip and inner lining in your plastic recycling & the kraft outer in your paper recycling or home compost.

We are working on a refill scheme to enable our customers to reuse their packaging with us.
